Honey garlic chicken wings are absolutely amazing. They’re sweet and sticky, and they go great with any appetizer. Honey garlic chicken wings are roasted until crispy and drenched in a sticky honey garlic sauce. Delicious on its own or with more spicy spice!

Serve them with buffalo chicken wings and other simple snacks like loaded nachos!

WHAT’S IN HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN WINGS?

  • Chicken wings; Before you begin, be sure to chop and trim the chicken wings.
  • Olive oil, salt, and pepper coat the chicken wings before baking.
  • You’ll need the following ingredients to make honey garlic sauce: Soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, chopped garlic, and chili powder
 

Chicken Wing Sauce

For this dish, you can use any type of chicken wing sauce, from Buffalo sauce to simply salt and pepper. A simple homemade sweet and sour sauce is cooked till tasty and sticky in this chicken wing dish

How to Make Wing Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, combine the wing sauce ingredients.
  • Simmer until the sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  • Use a foil-lined baking sheet (easy clean up) topped with parchment paper (to keep the wings from sticking)
  • Allow the wings to baking – caramelize for a few minutes.
  • Cool for 10 minutes before serving to allow the sauce to thicken even more.

HOW TO MAKE HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN WINGS

  • Step 1 – Place uncooked chicken wings in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle over some olive oil, season with salt and pepper, then toss the wings with a set of tongs or a spatula to coat.
  • Step 2 – Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the chicken wings on it.
  • Step 3: Bake it!
  • Step 4: Make the sauce while the chicken bakes. Bring the honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and chili powder (if using) to a boil for three to four minutes, or until the sauce is reduced, thick, and a dark golden color. Turn off the heat and cover the saucepan.

INGREDIENTS

  • Baked Chicken Wings
  • 4 pounds of chicken wings
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • 2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, to taste
  • Honey Garlic Sauce
  • 1  cup honey
  •  tbsp of soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • garnish with fresh chopped cilantro (optional)
 

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Set aside a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Add uncooked chicken wings to a large mixing basin. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. To coat the chicken wings, lightly toss them with tongs or a spatula.
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil, 2 teaspoon sea salt, 1 pinch of black pepper 4 pounds of chicken wings 
  • Arrange the chicken wings on the prepared baking sheet in an equal layer.
  • Bake the chicken wings for 40 minutes, or until the juices flow clear, turning halfway through.

To make the Honey Garlic Sauce

  • Bring honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and chili powder (optional) to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Allow to simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring regularly, or until sauce is reduced by half.
  • 1/2 cup honey, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp fresh grated ginger, 1 tbsp fresh minced garlic, 1/2 tsp chile powder
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat. Set aside, covered.
  • Putting everything together
  • Working quickly, place roasted chicken wings in a bowl and drizzle with a prepared honey garlic glaze. This process is most effective when both the chicken and the sauce are hot. Toss the chicken wings in the glaze with a spatula until evenly coated. It’s fine if the glaze is thick, but it should be easy to pour. If it doesn’t, microwave the glaze for 30 seconds at a time until it’s liquid again, then pour it over the chicken wings fast.
  • Serve the honey garlic chicken wings immediately, garnished with chopped cilantro (optional).
 
Notes
  • Refrigerate leftover wings in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven or air fryer until well warm.
