What is the best way to store it?

 As a pasta salad, pesto pasta is best served fresh or chilled. Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight jar for up to 3 days. I wouldn’t advocate reheating because it will turn the basil black when heated. You may make a fantastic pasta salad with the leftovers.

  1. penne pasta (8 oz) (3 cups)
  2. 1/2 CUP BASIL PESTO (HOMEMADE OR PURCHASED)
  3. a quarter teaspoon of salt (or to taste)
  4. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, ground (or to taste)
  5. 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes
  6. 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups penne pasta 8 oz
  • ½ CUP BASIL PESTO HOMEMADE OR PURCHASED
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper ground (or to taste)
  • 1 cup halved cherry tomatoes
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
 

  • Over medium-high heat, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and a pinch of salt, and simmer for 8-10 minutes, or according to package guidelines, until al dente (completely cooked but still firm). Make sure the pasta isn't overcooked. Drain the pasta in a strainer and set aside for 1 minute after turning off the heat and reserving at least 1/4 cup of the pasta water.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the pasta, pesto, and the leftover pasta water (1/4 cup or more, if preferred). Season to taste with salt and pepper, then toss to coat. Add the cherry tomatoes and parmesan cheese and mix well.
  • Serve right away. If preferred, top with additional parmesan.

Notes

  • Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. If you're going to mix the pasta and pesto, use a mixing bowl instead of mixing in the post. Because the saucepan is excessively hot, the basil in the pesto will become black.
  • How to personalize? Cooked meat or vegetables, such as chicken, shrimp, zucchini, or broccoli, can be added to this penne pasta to make it your own.
  • How do you serve? Serve pesto penne spaghetti with pull-apart garlic bread, rosemary garlic focaccia bread, ciabatta bread, or tomato focaccia bread. You may also serve it with a simple Greek salad, Mediterranean chickpea wedge salad, or tomato cucumber avocado salad on the side.
