It only takes 30 minutes to marinate — no overnight resting or preparation before going to work — and packs a lot of flavors. Take-out is more accessible and healthier, but it’s not as enjoyable!

Add sliced scallions a few minutes before the chicken is finished cooking for a unique and more delicate onion flavor.

Don’t forget to drizzle the remaining marinade sauce from the pan over the top!

Ingredients
  

Soy Marinade:

  • cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • tbsp honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar rice wine
  • 2 minced garlic cloves

Chicken:

  • pound boneless chicken thighs
  • 3 scallions divided into thirds
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions
 

To make the marinade:

  • mix the soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, ginger paste, and garlic in a large mixing bowl. Place the chicken thighs in the marinade, cover, and let aside for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the chicken thighs on a rimmed baking sheet to cool. After 15 minutes in the oven, spread the scallions on the tray and top with sesame seeds. Return to the oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is done.

Notes

  • You can prepare the sauce ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator overnight; Simply reheat it in the microwave or on the stovetop before serving. If gluten is an issue, use low-sodium tamari instead of soy sauce.
