Notes about Shrimps Salad

  1. You can boil shrimp in advance and store it in the refrigerator for a whole day to be ready when needed. You can also wrap it tightly and store it in the freezer for a period ranging from one week to ten days.
  2. To test the boiling of potatoes, insert a small fork or a wooden stick in the middle. Do not climb it more than necessary.
  3. If the pot in which you boil the potatoes is small in size, it is preferable to turn the potatoes from time to time so that they are all cooked at the same time, and it is preferable that the potatoes be immersed in water throughout the boiling time.
  4. You can control the density of the sauce as desired by adding some milk or cream, and you can also add more chili to make the dish appetizing.
  5. You can prepare the sauce in advance and put it in an airtight glass jar, and put it in the refrigerator for a maximum of two days.

Ingredients
  

The shrimp:

  • 1 kilo Large shrimp
  • 2 Pieces Bay leaves
  • 1 Large Onion. Quartered
  • 1 Medium lemon Sliced unpeeled
  • 2-4 Cloves Cardamoms
  • 1 Teaspoon salt

The potatoes:

  • 4 Large potatoes
  • 2 Large cloves Gallic minced
  • ¼ Cup Butter soft
  • ½ Cup Milk or cream
  • ½ Teaspoon White pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 Teaspoon salt

The sauce:

  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • ½ Cup Ketchup
  • 1 Large clove of Garlic minced
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Cucumber pickle finely chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon salt
  • 2-3 Teaspoons Chilli sauce
  • ½ Teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions
 

  • The shrimp: Peel the shrimp, leaving the tail intact. Devein the shrimps. Wash well. Put in a medium pot and covet with water. Add the bay leaves, onion, lemon, cardamom, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat; reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes until the color is opaque. Drain, discard the other ingredients, and wash the shrimp with cold water. Cover and chill.
  • The potatoes: Wash the potatoes. Do not peel. Place in a medium pot and cover with water. Add one tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Pell while hot.
  • Using a potato masher or a food processor, mash the potatoes while hot adding the butter, milk, or cream, white pepper, garlic, onion, and salt. Stir and taste. Taste to adjust the salt and spices.
  • Arrange the potatoes on a flat serving plate shaping it into a pyramid
  • Arrange the shrimp on top in an attractive way. Garnish with lettuce and tomatoes as desired.
