  1. 1 (16-ounce) packet of spaghetti
  2. 1 pound of beef mince
  3. 1 medium sliced onion
  4. 1 jar pasta sauce (24 ounces)
  5. seasoned salt (1/2 teaspoon)
  6. 2 eggs, big
  7. 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  8. 5 teaspoons melted butter
  9. 2 cups cottage cheese (4% fat)
  10. 4 cups part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded
  11. Chopped fresh basil, optional

How to Make Spaghetti in the Oven

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cook spaghetti until it is al dente, as directed on the package. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, sauté beef and onion over medium heat, breaking steak into pieces, until meat is no longer pink and onion is soft, 6-8 minutes; drain. Set aside the pasta sauce and seasoned salt.
  • Whisk together the eggs, Parmesan cheese, and butter in a large mixing basin. Drain the spaghetti and throw it in the egg mixture to coat it.
  • Place half of the spaghetti mixture in a buttered 13″ x 9″ or 3-quart baking dish. Half of the cottage cheese, meat sauce, and mozzarella cheese should go on top. Layers should be repeated. Place a rimmed baking sheet on top of the baking dish.
  • Bake for 40 minutes with the lid on. Uncover and bake for another 20-25 minutes, or until well cooked. Allow 15 minutes to rest before serving. Sprinkle with basil, if desired.
